Below you can see several items related to Umstead 100. Blake Norwood the race director takes pictures along the course. When he sends the final race packet including certificate of completion he also includes pictures which is really nice!
nice scan of the photos and certificate!! I was pretty happy with my splits --I was a model of consistency the second half with each split being 3:00, give or take a couple minutes. Now my photos are a different story --I look horrendous at the finish, but hey -it's the finish:) --you are so lucky to have such long, thin legs!! I am cursed with big thighs:( guess what? Frank and I are entering VT 100 to keep you and Bob company. Not sure about Wayne. Anthony will pace Bob? I need to make a res. at Yankee Village:)
Your splits were really impressive. I sort of expected my split times to increase as the race progressed as my gimpy knee got more painful and I had more stuff to attend to (dressing, undressing, shoe changes etc.).
I will look forward to seeing you and Frank at VT100 miler. I am now signed up for the Race around the Lake Marathon. I told Tristan to take away internet and my credit card but alas he did not listen and now I have 1 race immediately following VT100 and a 50 km in VA just 2 weeks later).
Oh well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger:-)
I work as a Mathematical Statistician at the FDA. My husband, Tristan and I live with our 3 Ragdoll cats (Zaboomafoo, Sagwa, PowderPuffGirl) and Bernese Mountain dog (Gilligan).
I am a long distance runner, but go slowly (I have finished last in a few endurance events).
When not at work or running, I spend time hiking in Maryland/Virginia or traveling with Tristan. Most of our trips are geared towards me running a marathon and/or my husband climbing a peak (in fact Tristan is a peak-bagger, which means he plans to summit the high point of every state...this is good because it enables me to run a marathon in every state!).
In 2009, I will be the co-chair of a large statistical conference. This will be my first experience leading such a big event; however, hopefully the perseverance and endurance I have learned while ultra-marathoning will help me succeed.
My goal in life is to become a motivational speaker and coach. At this point I do both freelance...with the optimal emphasis on the word "free".
I hope everyone has the opportunity to live out their dream and break down barriers that stand in one's way whether actual or imagined.

Hi Emmy,
